Replaceable

Irreplaceable

Nobody chooses the left column on purpose. It is what pressure does to a leader who never gets to stop and notice.

The Human Shift is the one day a year when you step out far enough to see which column you have been living in. That is where the day starts, and it is why it starts with what you feel, not with what you should do.

And it does not end at 6pm on November 12th. The questions from here follow you into Monday morning, in your own team, and the people you met in the room are leaders you can write to.

The conversations

Eight conversations already happening inside organizations

We did not invent the agenda. We took it from what leaders keep telling us. Every session on November 12th answers one of the following questions.

Feel

Energy, presence, self-awareness

01

How do you keep showing up for your team when you’re running on empty?

When the pressure is constant and the calendar is full, the part of you that actually leads people is the first thing to go quiet.

02

What does your team feel when you walk in the room?

You set the temperature before you say a word, and most leaders have never stopped to ask what signal they are actually sending.

03

Are you leading the way you want to, or the way the pressure is pushing you?

There is the leader you decided to be, and the leader the urgency of the day is turning you into. They are often not the same person.

Lead

Coaching, honesty, teams that are not in the same room

04

Are you still telling your team what to do, or have you started asking?

The shift from directing to coaching is not a training programme. It is a decision made dozens of times a day, under real pressure.

05

When did you last say something that really needed to be said?

The feedback you softened until it lost its meaning. The conversation you have been postponing. Accountability is about respecting people enough to be honest with them.

06

How do you keep a team together when they’re not in the same room?

Four generations, three cities, two cultural contexts. The skills that worked in the corridor do not automatically transfer to a screen.

Matter

AI, culture, what stays yours

07

What stays irreplaceable about you when AI can do the rest?

AI is already filling the gaps that used to take hours. The question is what you bring that it never will.

08

Is the culture you’re building worth staying for?

People leave for salary and come back for culture. The real one, that either holds people or quietly lets them drift.

Eight questions. One room of people carrying the same ones.

Monday after The Human Shift

Every session answers one question: what can I do differently on Monday?

Less theory. More conversations that change what you actually do.

An honest reading of your own state

What you have been running on, and what it is costing the people who read you every morning.

The conversation you keep postponing

Named, framed, and rehearsed with people who have had to have the same one.

A clearer sense of what only you bring

The part of your work that no tool and no restructuring replaces, plus leaders you can write to on Monday.

The programme

How the day works

Exact times come with the agenda. The structure is already decided: the day moves through Feel, then Lead, then Matter, and it is not a day of back-to-back presentations.

Talks

Short and practical; not more than 45 minutes. One idea per speaker, backed by something they have lived.

Workshops

Smaller groups, real situations, implementation ideas. The part people returned to most in the 2025 feedback.

Conversation

Deliberate time for the uncomfortable questions. Speakers stay in the room. They don't leave after the applause.

Networking

Structured, not just coffee and luck. Connections made around the context you lead in.

Language

Talks mostly in English. Workshops mostly in Romanian. It depends on the speakers. We balance both so that nobody is left behind.

Speakers

Problem first. Speaker second. Credentials third.

We announce names from October. Until then, the rule is public. It says more than a list.

We don't invite CVs. We invite people who can help a leader answer a question that is already on their desk.

  • They have led change in real organizations, and can talk about what it cost.
  • Their session maps onto one of the eight conversations above.
  • They bring something you won't find in five management books.
  • They stay in the room afterwards and let themselves be questioned.

In 2025 we had eight speakers from four countries. The 2026 names are announced one at a time, in the section below.

Who is speaking

The people answering these questions. Announced one at a time.

Four speakers, four workshops, four panels. Every slot in the programme is held for someone who has lived one of these questions and found something worth sharing. We introduce them one at a time, by what they have to say, not just who they are.

On November 12th, 12 ideas go home with you.

Mentoring in practice: turning your experience into someone else’s growth

Read moreShow less

AI can give you answers in seconds. What it can’t give you is what someone learned by living through the situation you’re in now: what it cost them, what they’d do differently, what was never written down anywhere. That knowledge leaves the organization with the people who carry it, unless someone passes it on.

This isn’t a presentation about mentoring; it’s 45 minutes of mentoring. Working in small groups on real situations brought by participants, you’ll practise the difference between giving advice and using your experience to help someone else think better, without taking over their problem and without needing all the answers.

You’ll leave with a simple structure for a mentoring conversation you can use on Monday: with a colleague, someone in your team, or even someone more experienced than you. You don’t need to be a manager to be a mentor. But you need to be a mentor if you are a manager or a leader. You already have the experience. Here you practise making it useful to someone else.

About Vlad

Vlad Duțescu, PhD, EIA Senior Practitioner and ITCA Practitioner, is President of EMCC Romania (European Mentoring and Coaching Council) and has represented the country on the EMCC Global Council since 2022. A recognised voice in business coaching, leadership development, sales management and team development, he brings two decades of experience helping people and organizations perform better.

At Bucharest Business School he teaches Innovation Management and Expand Your Horizon to MBA students. Since 2008 he has been part of Sandler Training, where he is Master Franchisee for Romania.

A graduate of the University of Medicine, he spent 15 years in pharmaceutical sales and marketing before founding his own people and organizational development practice in 2004. He is a co-founder of the Coaching & Mentoring Festival and Sponsor of the MOZAIC Reciprocal Mentoring Programme (ISMCP Gold accreditation from EMCC Global), which since 2023 has connected over 375 participants from 43 countries, speaking 30 languages.

The Leader Behind the Calendar: Why Stillness Is a Leadership Skill

Read moreShow less

When the pressure is constant and the calendar is full, the part of you that actually leads people is the first thing to go quiet. Peter has been on both sides of that: running high-stakes operations in the corporate world, and teaching leaders how to come back to themselves. In this session he shares what he learned about clarity, emotional stability and presence under pressure, and a simple practice you can start using on Monday.

About Peter

Most leaders know what to do. The harder part is being able to do it when they are exhausted, overloaded and running on empty.

Peter Gajdos knows that pressure from the inside. As Regional Manager at General Electric, he supported some of the most advanced cardiac surgery clinics in Pécs, Hungary, where mistakes are not an option. He later scaled a construction startup into a major market player.

Alongside his business career, Peter has been a certified Transcendental Meditation teacher since 1995. Since 2006 he has helped restructure the TM organization in Hungary, and he has overseen TM initiatives across 10 countries. Today he is National Leader of the TM organization in Hungary, and at The Human Shift he brings one practical idea from real experience.

“A conference that brought the focus back to what truly drives an organization: the human part in humans. It valued the whole person — their emotions, experiences, and everyday life at work — and explored how improving the way people feel and function can strengthen teams, performance, and purpose.”

Questions

What leaders ask us

What language is the conference in?

Talks and workshops find a balance between English and Romanian, depending on the speakers. You will find it in the agenda. There is no simultaneous translation. Comfortable working English is enough to follow.

How is this different from other leadership conferences?

By the order we put things in. Most conferences start with what you should do. We start with what you are carrying, the Feel pillar, because that is what decides how you lead on the days nobody is watching. Then Lead, then what still Matters when the tools change. And half the day is workshops on situations participants bring, not listening.

Is it worth a full day out of my calendar?

Depends what you are postponing. If you have a decision about people you have been rolling forward for months, the day is built for that kind of block. If you need training on a specific skill, there are better formats.

Is it for me if I don't have a formal leadership role yet?

Yes, if you are stepping into one within 12 months or already coordinate people without the title. No, if you are early in your career and looking for general direction.

Can I send someone from my team instead of me?

Yes. The seat is transferable to a colleague up to 3 days before the event.
